Come and try some of the wonderful food that Joo Chiat, Singapore's first Heritage Town, is famous for. Immerse yourself in the distinctive feel and vibe of the area and learn about the various communities that have been living here since the 1920's.
We will start by visiting a popular local market where people come from all over for the excellent hawker stalls, unique products and fresh produce and spices. There is some interesting baroque architecture in this conservation area and many popular restaurants and coffee shop line the 'foodie' streets. As we amble along we will see some of the traditional trades that are still operating here. The tour will end a beautiful shophouse that has been converted into a museum showcasing Peranakan Cultures. If we are lucky the owner may be there to explain the intricacies of the exhibits.
There are numerous food tastings (cost included but drinks at own expense) but please bring water, an umbrella and wear comfortable shoes.
