Thaipusam is one of the most important,
interesting and colourful festivals in the Hindu
calendar. This is a tour that you, your visitors and
photographers should not miss!
Our guide Charlotte Chu will tell us about the legends
and rituals of Thaipusam – during which devotees enter
a trance like state prior to carrying the heavy, richly
decorated 'kavadis' from the temple in Serangoon
Road to a second Hindu temple 4 km away. The
procession is wonderfully colourful and you will enjoy
the atmosphere of music, chanting and clapping
from the participants and the onlookers. We see the
preparations for the walk at the first temple, then our
bus takes us to the second temple where you can
witness the devotees complete the ceremony.
Please dress modestly and put on 'easy to slip-off'
shoes. Bring some water and an umbrella.
