The British Association warmly welcomes everyone from all nations to join our diverse activities and events, help you settle in Singapore, make new friends, and enjoy your time here
Established in 1956 as the British European Association, the British Association of Singapore (The BA) was founded to support the well-being and financial stability of British citizens as Singapore approached independence.
Today, the BA has evolved into a welcoming, not-for-profit community that embraces members from all nationalities. Our mission is to offer a friendly environment for newcomers to Singapore and anyone interested in connecting with our diverse and dynamic group.
Run entirely by dedicated volunteers, The BA organises a wide range of recreational and social activities across the island. From quiz nights and evening socials to walking groups, book clubs, and exclusive access to The British Club on select days, there’s something for everyone. We also explore Singapore’s vibrant culture with concerts, exhibitions, theatre outings, cooking classes, and more—helping members learn new skills, make lasting friendships, and enjoy unforgettable experiences.
The BA is led by an elected Council of volunteers, with a Chairperson at the helm. All members are eligible to stand for election if proposed by two fellow members and approved at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
We are honoured to have the British High Commissioner and their spouse as our Patrons, maintaining a close relationship with the High Commission.
Join us today! Whether you’re new to Singapore or a long-time resident, the BA community is here to welcome and support you. For membership enquiries, reach out to us at membership@britishassociation.org.sg. We look forward to meeting you soon!
